General Information

A motor club is an organization that provides benefits to its members related to the operation of a motor vehicle. Motor clubs operating in the State of Indiana are required to register with the Indiana Secretary of State, Securities Division (“Division”) if the motor club guarantees as security the club’s motor club card or any card of a motor club affiliated with the motor club.

Requirements
  • Motor club registrations must be submitted online through the Indiana Securities Portal.
  • The initial filing fee is fifty dollars ($50).
  • The motor club, as part of its initial registration and annual renewal, must either:
    • Provide a balance sheet certified by a certified public accountant that demonstrates net assets of more than five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) for the last available fiscal year; or
    • Deposit with the Division an annual surety bond in the amount of twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) payable to the state guaranteeing, in the amount of fines and costs, the motor club cards covered by the plan when used as a security deposit.
      • If the motor club is a foreign corporation not authorized to transact business in Indiana, it can only register with the Division by submitting an annual surety bond.
  • The renewal filing fee is fifty dollars ($50).
  • The motor club must renew annually with the Division by April 30.
